A sub-Rs 25,000 PC with LCD monitor

Beat this! A PC with full multimedia LCD monitor under Rs 25,000. If JD Electronics is to be believed, they are ready with this PC kit which includes a AMD or a Intel Celeron processor, a supporting motherboard, 128 MB DDR RAM, 40 GB hard disk, cabinet with SMPS, keyboard, mouse, CDROM drive and a 14.1-inch PureView LCD monitors.

"The plans to launch such a kit was envisaged sometime back, but due to the uncertainties that existed because of the Budget announcements, we had to put it on hold. We are now ready to roll this kit," says Hitesh Mody, Director, JayDee Electronics.

Major components like the LCD monitor, processor, motherboard and hard disk will carry three years warranty from original manufacturers. All other parts will be of standard quality with up to one-year warranty. 

"The kits are ready for sale and partners can procure them directly from us," says Hitesh. The floppy disk drive has been omitted from the kit, as Hitesh feels, it is no longer required. "People have stopped using floppies. Moreover, they are very unreliable compared to CDs. A system can work even without a floppy disk drive," says
Hitesh.

The kit consists of fully upgradeable components and if required systems integrators can add value to their PC by adding CD-writers or Combo drives. They can also upgrade it with more memory modules and higher speed processors.
