As a part of this exercise, ACDC has planned to open two service centers for servicing Canon range of printers in Tamil Nadu, Madurai and Trichy within next three months. ACDC along with Canon will also conduct 'Gyan Yatra', a technical training program for channel partners in Madurai, Trichy and Coimbatore.

There is a huge range of products available with Canon and it is difficult to make the partners aware of all those products. Through this training program, the entire range of printers available with Canon would be displayed and channel would be educated about all its features. This event will cascade the technical advantages of Canon products to the partners,” claimed K Dilip Kumar, MD, ACDC.

Besides these activities, ACDC also has one more point to rejoice-it has been awarded as the #1 Consumer Systems Product partner 2008 in India for Canon in the recently concluded event in Dubai. “We would like to extend our thanks to all the partners in the channel fraternity and Canon for all its support which helped us increase the market share for Canon by leaps and bounds,” Kumar said.

The distributor has proposed to focus more on the repeat mechanism business or the consumables business. The products that will see special attention from ACDC for this year include certain unique products from Canon like the ID printers, document reading scanners and cheque reading scanners to name a few. Apart from this, the company has also planned to focus on the photo quality papers of Canon, which remains untapped.

The other major activity happening in the company is that it is in the process of appointing original ink center partners in Tamil Nadu. “The objective is to identify and appoint 50 original ink center partners in Tamil Nadu. Our criteria is that the partner has to sell 50,000 consumables every month, without involving themselves in promoting grey and compatible consumables. Canon will also be launching a website, where these partners will be listed and they will also receive special incentives for their performance,” Kumar said.

ACDC has already appointed 36 original ink center partners and is currently working out on finalizing another 14. Claiming that ACDC currently operates with nearly 600 channel partners in the state, Kumar said that the company doesn't have any plans to increase its channel base for this year, but would work towards providing good support to them.
