ACMA, CII conduct BPO seminar

The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) in association with Ahmedabad
Computer Merchants Association (ACMA) recently conducted the CII BPO Summit 2008
in Ahmedabad, with the objective of positioning Gujarat as the favorable BPO/KPO
destination in the country as well as encouraging big out-sourcing companies to
invest in the state.

The other objective of the conference was to provide a common platform to the
budding entrepreneurs along with the BPO majors and also have their views on
what are the basic requirements for starting a BPO and also to scale it up. It
also saw the Gujarat BPO leaders share their success stories, with upcoming BPO
aspirants. Kaushik Pandya, President, ACMA said, “We want to develop IT and
IT-related industries in Ahmedabad and that is the reason, we took part in this
event. Lot of entrepreneurs want to start BPOs and KPOs but lack proper
knowledge about it. This seminar provided them with the insights of the industry
and the business opportunity that the sector offers.”

Some of the speakers at the seminar were Vimal Ambani, Vice Chairman, CII-Gujarat
Council; Pradeep Udhas, Global Head-Sourcing Advisory, KPMG; Rajiv C Mody,
Chairman and CEO, Sasken Commun­ication Technologies; and VK Raman, Head-BPO
Services, TCS, who briefed about various concessions offered by the state
government to the development of IT and IT-related services in Gujarat.
