AIT to organize protest rally on July 29 against sales tax hike

AIT is taking out a protest rally on July 29, 2004 before the Karnataka government passes the bill increasing the sales tax on hardware peripherals
and software from five percent to 12 percent.

The association will submit a memorandum asking for uniform classification of all IT products with tax @ 4 percent to the
chief minister and deputy chief minister. This day will be observed as a black day for Karnataka and
AIT has called for a statewide IT bundh.
