AKITDA gears up for statewide elections

Chennai: The year 2009 is an activity filled year for All Kerala Information Technology Dealers Association (AKITDA). The association, spread across 14 districts in Kerala, plans to hold its statewide elections during the month of March and then a statewide convention in April, which will elect the new State President for the association for the next term. PG Suresh, State President, AKITDA said, "We are looking forward to a series of events this year and the most important one for the association is the statewide elections that are planned for all fourteen districts. Though there are 14 districts in Kerala, AKITDA had only 13 units and this year, we are adding a unit in Idukki district, which was not there earlier."

The association has planned to conduct elections for Malappuram, Kannur and Calicut by Mar 7-8 and the elections for rest of the units like Kasaragod, Wayanad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Kottayam, Alapuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kollam, Tiruvananthapuram and Idukki would be scheduled in March accordingly. Apart form these state elections, AKITDA would also be conducting a state convention in a place called Vaghaman near Kottayam, where nearly 500 dealers would be participating and electing their statewide President and office bearers.

Besides these elections, the association has planned to launch a website-www.akitda.com, which would bring all the members from across the state on one address for any correspondence. "We have planned to use the website effectively by providing a separate login for the members and educate them on various updates on the products, their pricing, distributor informations, etc. The end-users also can access our website for general informations on the products and the pricing," Suresh informed.

"AKITDA has been active in anti-piracy activities too, where we have been stressing the partners to go for original softwares and propagating the message across the state. Microsoft has also come for talks with us and are happy about the way things are progressing," Suresh claimed.
