Mumbai: In order to enhance its presence in the market AMD India has introduced a Visibility Program in six cities in the country. Under this program, it has aligned with Gigabyte and Sapphire where the respective company's motherboard and graphics card will be combined with AMD's CPU and the entire combo will be showcase at select retailer outlets.
In Mumbai, AMD has tied up with Samvik, Niagara and Futeck in Mumbai; in Pune it has tied up with Komal Enterprises and Ankita; in Gujarat it has tied up with Dolphin and Vishal; in New Delhi it has tied up with SMC International and Crux; in Kolkata it has tied up with Marc Infotech and Saboo Computers; in Hyderabad it has tied up with Shweta Peripherals; in Coimbatore its tie up is with Mensel while in Bengaluru it has tied up with Unnathi.
The reason AMD has initiated this program is to help partners position a complete solution of motherboard, chipset and graphic cards to customers, based on their usage need and budget. The end-customers will be given hands on experience on the demo units on how the solution performs which will give them a basis for purchasing the right combination of motherboard, CPU and graphic cards.
"The channel has transitioned from the 65 nanometer to 45 nanometer. And though the systems integration business is shrinking, we believe there is a lot of scope for channel to sell well-designed products for the right segment of customers. But to do this they need to be equipped with the right kind of information, which is why we have created the Visibility Program for our select partners who have a good retail front, which will attract more customers," said Sandip Naik, Head-Channel Sales, AMD Far East (India).
This aside, AMD will continue on its System Builder (SB) yatra, which it has started a year and a half ago. This yatra traverses approximately 30 cities every quarter, where AMD executives update the channel in each city about its products, how to position it to the end-users and address their questions about other company policies. "Through this initiative we have managed to sign up over 2000 partners," beamed Naik.
AMD is also looking at international business and after signing up partners in Bangladesh and Nepal, it is now seeking a partner in Sri Lanka. "These are potential markets, which have not been tapped well yet. We want to have a strong partner in Sri Lanka, because we are confident it will be a key business region for us," added Naik.
