AMD's new graphics cards hit the market

AMD announced the availability of ATI Radeon HD 4550 and 4350 graphics
cards-the latest addition to ATI Radeon HD 4000 series graphics line up. Both
cards are based on the same technology found in ATI Radeon HD 4800 series,
including support for DirectX 10.1 games and HD multimedia capabilities.

ATI Radeon HD 4550 graphics card are available in less than $59 for a 512MB
memory configuration, while ATI Radeon HD 4350 graphic cards are priced at less
than $39 for a 256MB memory configuration.

Rick Bergman, Sr VP and GM-Graphics Products Group, AMD said, "AMD is
offering a complete family of graphics cards that delivers on our commitment of
winning performance in each market segment."

Its partners include Asus, Club 3D, Diamond Multimedia, Force3D, Gecube,
Gigabyte, Hightech Information Systems (HIS), Jetway, MSI, Palit Multimedia,
PowerColor, Sapphire Technology and VisionTek.

Both the products are expected to be available in October.

ATI Radeon HD 4550 graphics cards

It features 80 stream processing cores, and is based on 55nm process. Its power
efficiency is less than 20 watts under full load, and is available as a
passively cooled solution so that users can access games with minimum noise,
heat and power consumption. It has a frame buffer of 512MB DDR3 memory.

ATI Radeon HD 4350 graphic cards

It consumes 20 watts under full load, features a frame buffer of 256MB memory,
and 7.1 channel audio via HDMI, the ATI Radeon HD 4350.
