Asus launches Eee PC netbook

Mumbai: Asus announced the launch of Eee PC 1002HA-a new member of its Eee PC family. The company introduced netbooks with the launch of Eee PC 7-inch targeted at school children. The Eee PC family was built up with the launch of Eee PC 904 HD and Eee PC 1000 H. Eee PC S101 was launched in India in January 2009 targeting fashion-conscious people.

Eee PC 1002HA is embedded with super hybrid engine (SHE) that saves up to 15 percent of power. For faster Internet connection, the netbook is equipped with 802.11n technology. This product comes up with the10GB online storage along with the 160GB HDD, large touch pad and spacious palm rest.

Speaking on the launch, Stanley Wu, Country Head-Netbooks, Asus India said, "Eee PC 1002HA is basically targeted at working professionals. We have bundled Eee PC 1002HA with free 10GB online storage facilities along with the usual 160GB HDD storage device. Also, PC users who are conscious about power consumption will surely benefit with SHE that saves up to 15 percent power of the CPU."

The Eee PC 1002HA weighs 1.2kg and has a one-inch battery attached. It is packed with a 10-inch LED-backlit display (1,024x600 pixels), a digital array microphone, coupled with a 1.3MP built-in webcam. Bluetooth connectivity enables users to wirelessly connect Bluetooth-enabled devices to the Eee PC 1002HA.

Available with Windows XP Home edition OS, users also have the benefit of the Windows interface. A multi-touch touchpad provides intuitive interactions between users and their multimedia via finger motions to manipulate pictures and content navigation.

Users can also read and write various storage media, via the Eee PC 1002HA, with its built-in four-in-one card reader capable of reading MMC, SD, memory stick and MS-PRO media formats.

The Eee PC 1002HA features SHE which consists of the Power4 Gear Hybrid application and the energy processing unit (EPU). Power4 Gear Hybrid facilitates the deployment and usage of power according to the users' preferences in relation to the specific tasks that they need to perform, while the EPU detects the users' power requirements and makes the necessary power adjustments.

Users can also choose from pre-determined power presets to cater to their computing requirements. Coupled with a custom-made, polymer battery that boasts two high-capacity cells offering 4200mAh, the Eee PC 1002HA can provide users with up to five hours of unplugged computing time.
