Bangalore IT.Biz 2008 concludes

The 11th edition of Bangalore IT. biz organized by Dept of IT, BT and Science
and Technology, Government of Karnataka, STPI -Bangalore and MM Activ
inaugurated by CM of Karnataka BS Yeddyurappa and the exhibition inaugurated by
Hon'ble CM of Gujarat Narendra Modi; concluded last week on a high note. Gujarat
is the partner state for Bangalore IT.biz 2008. Mexico is the partner country,
which is represented by 50-delegate team

The three day long event was held at palace grounds and consisted of
seminars, panel discussions, exhibitions and a host of other events.

"Bengaluru is the IT, technology and R&D hub of the nation. The state
government is now promoting the growth of tier-2 and 3 cities," Sudhakar Rao,
Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka said.

The event successfully concluded with 106 International and national
speakers, 5,100 business delegates, 100 leading global and Indian exhibiters.

Also for the first time STPI IT Export Awards were integrated with
BangaloreIT.biz. Infosys Technologies and Wipro bagged the top honours for being
the top two major Indian IT companies.

The second day of BangaloreIT.biz witnessed CEO Conclave where seven CEO's of
leading companies participated in the panel discussion on "Is India Inc ready
for global melt down? And how?" The moderator of the discussion was E Raghavan-Editor
(South), Economic Times. The panellist included heads' of Microsoft, Dell, TI,
AMD, Siemens, Oracle, Vanpic Project & STPI. CEO's mulled on the remedial
measures to counter the meltdown at the hour-long discussion. Over 300 CEOs
attended the conclave.

A fourteen-member delegation from Mexico, including the Minister of Economy,
government officials and industry representatives participated in the event.
They had conducted over 500 B2B meetings with the Indian companies like Infosys,
Wipro, Birla, IGate to name a few during the three days. They also had meeting
with the ISA, NASSCOM, STPI and with the Dept of IT & BT, Govt. of Karnataka.
The Mexican delegations were aiming at two-fold objective of sourcing ICT
products and services and collaboration with the Indian IT companies. Focused
conferences at the BangaloreIT.biz kick-started processes for policy documents,
prepared new grounds for hitherto unexplored green areas, and threw light into
several industry verticals such as cyber security, healthcare, role of IT in
revolutionizing Indian education system and energy saving and IT applications in
GIS. The conference also facilitated deliberation on new policies initiatives
like semi-conductor policy and Rural IT policy. Most of the conference sessions
drew excellent response from the industry. BangaloreIT.biz also witnessed the
ninth addition of the Rural IT Quiz.
