BangaloreIT.in to focus on networking, conferences

The tenth BangaloreIT.in 2007 to be held from Oct 29 - Nov 1 this year, will
promote Bangalore as the 'Gateway to Asia.'

Announcing the uniqueness of tenth BangaloreIT.in, at a media briefing here
today, Pradeep Gupta, chairman, CyberMedia and the member of the BangaloreIT.in
advisory committee, said, "This is the tenth year. Young days are over and
BangaloreIT.in is stepping into the double digit. This time it will be a
conference-led model with exhibition."

This event positions Bangalore as the 'Gateway of Asia,' with the theme
"Leveraging Asia's Unique ICT Ecosystem."

The event would primarily focus on networking sessions and conferences
focused on knowledge sharing and transfer. It is aimed at making the event
relevant for the participants.

According to the new model, the event will have session tracks, panel
discussions, product/service showcase and focused group sessions to specific
audiences. The conference sessions will span topics such as leveraging the
innovation hub, depth and breadth across the value chain and ICT outreach-
touching the lives and making a difference.

Globally, Bangalore as an IT hub has been well positioned, recording $37.6
billion revenues in FY 2006-`07 with the growth rate of 30.7 per cent. It has a
huge talent pool with 1900 IT-ITeS companies, 664 MNCs and 66 companies in the
Fortune 500 Companies. The event would be build upon based on the unique ICT
ecosystem of Bangalore.

"India is unique in Innovation, talent, process, R&D, products and
market. The city offers the entire value chain or ecosystem of ICT and that
would be the theme for this BangaloreIT.in," Gupta added.

Allaying apprehensions that inadequate infrastructure was driving software
companies away from the city, HP senior VP-Asia Pacific Som Mittal said that the
industry was not moving out of Bangalore, but merely expanding in accordance
with their growth requirements.

Two years ago, the IT industry in Bangalore had threatened to boycott the
showcase event, citing poor infrastructure development.

"The industry and the Government are going hand in hand in organizing
this event. Government is playing a facilitator role. As announced earlier the
advisory committee was formed and playing a vital role in organizing this entire
event," said MN Vidyashankar, secretary IT, BT and S&T, Government of
Karnataka."

"The event will also seek to outline emerging opportunities for joint
collaboration with other countries in Asia," he added.

The advisory committee includes Kris Gopalakrishnan, chief executive officer,
Infosys Technologies Ltd, Som Mittal, senior VP, HP Asia Pacific and Japan
Services, Dr Sridhar Mitta, CEO, e4e, Deepak Patel, MD, MphasiS and Dr Biswadip
Mitra, MD, Texas Instruments India Pvt. Ltd from Industry. Prof S Sadagopan from
Academia, MN Vidyashankar, J Parthsarthy, director, STPI and Rakesh Singh,
director IT, Department of IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka from
Government. Pradeep Gupta, chairman CyberMedia and Pankaj Nath, senior VP,
CyberMedia Events.

"BangaloreIT.in 2007 completes a decade of existence, an achievement
which would not have been possible without the support of Government, Industry
and Academia. This year we have the active involvement of the industry and will
be an event 'for the industry, of the industry and by the industry," said
Nath.

Top industry honchos are expected to speak at the conferences. The topics and
the speakers are yet to be finalized.
