BitDefender to double partner base by July

Chennai: BitDefender has proposed to expand its channel base in the country. The company plans to double its channel base from 2,000 to 4,000 partners by the first quarter of FY 2009. BitDefender is marketed through the associate distributors appointed by Delhi-based Unistal Systems, its national distributor.

Pankaj Jain, Product Head, BitDefender, said that the company is planning to aggressively take the product through its associate distributors and increase the channel base.

The company recently appointed Chennai-based Supreme Computers as the exclusive distributor for the BitDefender anti-virus and BitDefender Internet Security for Tamil Nadu. Apart from Supreme the company operates through nearly 18 appointed regional distributors from Delhi-KK Software, Softnet Megatrends, Bodhi Peripherals, Mangal Electronics; Mumbai-Prime ABGB, Pacific Infotech; Kolkata-Vinayak Infotech; Benguluru-Sogo Computers, Creative Compuworld; Kerala-Radha Electronics, International Marketing Corporation; Indore-Origin Computers; Pune-Klassy Computers, Fast Track; Guwahati-PC Solutions; Patna-Shakunthal Infotech; Andhra Pradesh-Helpline Business Solutions and Gujarat-Pacific Infotech. “The product is doing extremely well since its launch in 2008 and we were able to set up a good channel base, which is to be doubled by the next quarter,” informed Jain.

He said that the company would also be expanding the number of associate distributors, however he declined to give any cumulative figure due to strategic reasons. Different products of BitDefender are distributed through different associate distributors. As Unistal has specialized data recovery solutions, those solutions are bundled along with BitDefender as a value addition. In one of the packs, a crash proof solution is bundled along with BitDefender Internet Security and in another pack, BitDefender Total Security is bundled along with laptop tracker and boot locker under the name 'Prodegent.'
