Once, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) had a requirement for spam
filter software at their two Internet mail gateways. Their primary gateway was
in their corporate office in Mumbai and secondary gateway was in their
Integrated Data Center at Greater Noida. Its internal mail was spread across
India with a total number of nine exchange sites in four metros. All these
exchange sites were connected with 2MBPS leased line. The spam filter software
was connected at both the Internet mail gateways to block spam mails and
virus-infected mails, and to filter the content of the mails. Antivirus software
was required over exchange of 2000-03 servers on all exchange sites to scan each
and every mail in real time. This software was required to work smoothly with
the offered antispam solution.

“We have recommended and implemented Sophos e-mail security solution-Pure
Message antivirus and antispam for BPCL's Exchange 2000-03 servers. This has
substantially reduced their spam and junk mail rates,” said Vinod Kumar, MD,
Satcom Infotech.

SK Subramanian, Manager-IIS, BPCL shared, “Sophos Pure Message Antivirus and
Antispam for Exchange 2000-03 server was the best techno-commercial offered to
us. Sophos products, particularly virus scanning and content-based filter helped
to allow only virus-free e-mails to reach user's mailbox, which also reduced the
maintenance cost. The product not only increased the productivity time, there
was also no downtime due to virus attacks on our e-mail servers,” said
Subramanian.
