From a regional distributor, Cache Technologies has made its
metamorphosis into a solution provider, with the addition of HP servers to its
portfolio. This comes less than three months after the company partnered with
EMC and Hitachi Data Systems for storage solutions.
The decision to sell HP servers was taken after Cache started
deploying projects for storage. Customers would then ask them to offer servers
as well, since storage and servers were inter-linked. "Since servers are a
natural extension of storage and our customers wanted us to act as a single
interface for all their solution needs, we decided to take the plunge into
servers as well," explained Suresh Joshi, MD, Cache Technologies.

SURESH JOSHI Moving towards solution providing from distribution with swift tie-ups |
The company has already managed to sell five servers in less
than a month since the tie-up with HP. It hopes to increase this to 15 units
this month.
Cache started off as a regional distributor for D-Link India
over nine years ago. Joshi later decided to get into systems integration and
tied up with Cisco for network integration and high-end products. It is also a
Novell partner, besides providing document management solutions from Xerox, on
an exclusive basis.
"We are also working with Walrack and Nortel Networks and have set up a
different division which focuses only on systems integration," Joshi said.
