Caddy launches data back up and retrieval solution in India

Caddy Data Services, a technology solutions provider, has launched Caddy, a data back up and retrieval solution for computer users in India. Priced at Rs 3,000 for a one-year subscription package, Caddy will provide an automated solution for data mobility, continuity and 500 MB of secure back up storage service to its customers.

"Caddy is targeting small, medium enterprises and the individual users," said Caddy CEO Ashwani Nayar. He added that the company is going to market its solution through channel partners, resellers and ISPs. It is going to recruit 50 channel partners by the end of this year.

According to Caddy Data Services president SK Ramaswamy, "Whilst expensive solutions for data back -up are available in India, they largely target large enterprises that have huge IT spending capacities. Expensive solutions ignore the needs of the individual end user either on price or on a comprehensive easy to use solution at the desktop level".

The launch of Caddy follows Caddy Data Service's recent alliance with Opelin Laboratories to commercialize the latter's Arbus data security technology in India and the SAARC region.

Detailing the advantages of the solution, Ramaswamy said that Caddy automatically uploads the users' files at intervals without any human intervention. Also the data remains 100 percent safe and there is no need to have back ups in CDs, local LAN, etc. 

He added that with the help of the solution users can access their files from anywhere in the world even if the mother PC is switched off. It also allows users to share files across multiple locations between persons with a validity period of maximum 15 days. Users can email up to 500 MB within a few seconds without blocking mail space. The data gets encrypted using 128-bit encryption for full security.
