CALTRON: Leading all the way

With a growth of over 140 percent for the 2005-06 fiscal Caltron seems to
have come a long way and is now one of the leading IT distributors in east
region

Caltron has shown a remarkable growth in the last one year. It has achieved a
turnover figure of Rs 102 crore for 2005-06 over its previous records of Rs 42
crore (2004-05) and Rs 40 crore (2003-04). This has enabled the disti from
Kolkata to achieve an escalation of about 143 percent in its overall business
model.

The company has undergone a complete refurbishment in its operation in the
last fiscal, which has nonetheless, helped Caltron in its feat. Last July the
company inaugurated a plush 3,500 sq ft building named Caltron House where it
shifted its corporate office too. The same building also accommodates its second
retail showroom that has been modeled keeping in mind the present consumer
demands.

    The company boasts of a wide range of products and brands that spells out
    major names like, HP, Intel, Samsung, Kodak, Lenovo, etc. Caltron also has a
    great command over the entire east Indian market backed with a wide partner
    network and three branches at Jamshedpur, Patna and Delhi.

    The last fiscal was a year of extraordinary achievement from the side of
    Caltron. It went on to become the HP Best Color Laser Partner from APAC region
    and HP Best Inkjet Printer VCP from India. It has also won the Best Sub Disti
    award for Compaq desktops and laptops from east India apart from winning the DQ
    Week Best Sub Disti Silver Award for Kolkata.

    The company also entered into two new tie-ups with Lenovo and Kodak as the
    regional distributor. These two ventures have gone on to be match winners for
    Caltron. The last fiscal also proved good for the company's PC sale, which was
    somewhat affected in the last two years keeping in with the overall market
    trend. But Caltron's shifting focus to sell branded products helped to
    increase its PC sales by 30 percent, which helped the company in its impressive
    growth.

    Caltron also had bagged some bulk orders last year like, HP consumable
    supplies for Taj Bengal, Dabur Pharma, ITC Ltd and many others from government
    and semi-government organizations. The company has plans to expand its network
    further in East and open few more branches in Orissa, Jharkhand and Assam in the
    next fiscal.
