CAMS launches monthly bulletin

Chennai: Computer and Media Society (CAMS), Madurai became the first association in Confed-ITA to launch a monthly bulletin for its members. The bulletin was launched at the annual general meeting (AGM) of the association held in Madurai on June 9. Titled 'Winchester', the tabloid will be circulated among the members free of cost and will inform the members about the association activities along with other interesting stuff. Renganathan, Editor, Winchester said, “The bulletin in print will have bi-lingual content and will be circulated among the members absolutely free. The main aim of this bulletin is to keep our members updated about the association's activities and introduction of any exclusive product by the member. Apart from this, the bulletin will carry interviews of key personalities in the IT business domain.

“This bulletin will also serve as a platform for the members and their families to share their ideas. We believe this would bring the members and their families together as one community. Other than this, it will also carry some jokes and entertainment stuff,” Renganathan added.

The association has planned to conduct an expo in September this year and has also rolled out a new set of regulations for their members relating to the advertisements placed by the partners in the print media.

As per the new regulation, the members should not mention the price of the product in the print media advertisements. However, if the product is advertised with the price, then the members can avail a discount of 2.5 percent. Mainly, the association has brought in the regulation to avoid any price confusion in the minds of end-users.

After the incident of sales executive of SES duping the partners in Madurai region, the association has asked for a statement of accounts from the distributor and has pledged to be united in the face of the service tax issue.

G Ravikumar, President, CAMS, said that the association has even planned for a get together and a family tour.

On the other hand, the association has increased its member strength from 62 to 85 and has plans to increase it further. A team under G Jegannathan, CEO, Asian Computers and Vikas Daga, CEO, Vijay Trading has been formed to increase the count. In an attempt to increase the number of members, the association has planned to conduct vendor meetings in the city, which only members would be able to attend.

CAMS also approved Confed-ITA's Soul Project unanimously after A Muthuswamy, Secretary, Confed-ITA explained the project to the members in the gathering.
