Canon India recognized for its excellence

Canon India (P) Ltd has been awarded the commendation certificate for 'Strong
Commitment to Excel' at the CII-EXIM Bank Award 2006. Alan Grant, President and
CEO, Canon India received this award in Bangalore.

The annual CII EXIM Bank Business Excellence Award felicitates organizations
for achievements in their journey towards business excellence. During the
inaugural session of the 14th CII Quality Summit in Bangalore, Canon India
received the award. While giving away the award, KN Shenoy, Chairman, CII
reiterated that the awards have the most rigorous evaluation process within the
Indian industry and that the winners are truly excellent organizations.

While on receiving the award, Grant said, “Canon is honored to receive this
recognition for the work the company has done in its pursuit of business
excellence in the ten years it has been present in India. Every year, many
companies apply for this recognition and it is a rare occurrence for any company
to achieve recognition in its first attempt. The award also recognizes Canon
India's contribution to society and to its care for the environment. We are very
pleased and proud to have achieved this recognition at our first attempt and to
be one of the few companies to do so.”

Prizes are awarded in several categories to organizations that demonstrate
excellence in the management of quality as their fundamental process for
continuous improvement. The categories are: 'Commitment to Excellence', 'Strong
commitment', 'Significant Achievement', and the 'CII-Exim Bank Award'. Canon has
also been awarded the second place for its 'People Engagement through Excellence
One' by DMA and Erehwon Consulting, for the most Innovative HR practices in the
industry. Gillette was awarded the first place and Canon shares this award with
Shoppers Stop and Jindal Steel.
