Canon launches original ink centers in India

Canon India has announced the launch of original ink centers in India. The
center aims to increase consumer awareness about the advantages of using
original inks for all inkjet printing products and making original inks easily
available to the consumers. They will evolve as a one-stop-shop for all original
Canon consumables especially inks that will largely address the customers'
needs. Canon has presently launched 18 OICs in the country including 15 in
Delhi, one in Bangalore, one in Mumbai and one in Pune. The company aims to set
up 55 such centers by June 2008.

Commenting on the launch V.P Sajeevan, Assistant Director-Consumer Systems
Products, Canon India said "OIC is a new concept that we have launched in
India to promote the use of original inks. Over the years, Canon has realized
that absence of proper information and lack of easy availability of original
inks was the two main causes that make consumers opt for refilling. Refilling,
over a period of times, proves detrimental to the printers and AIOs. The OIC is
a significant step in Canon's attempt to help the customers in understanding the
long-term benefits of using original inks."

The Original Ink Centers can be identified through a signage outside the shop
featuring the OIC logo. The logo itself has been designed on the traditional
dance form of Kerala - Kathakali as it indicates seven colors and also
originality as the inks used for painting the face are natural and each design
is unique. The OIC unit comprises of a point of sale area for cartridges along
with information on current schemes, POS and also a consumable compatibility
chart that offers the customers the advantage of matching their printer type to
the right consumable. The originality of the consumables can be checked with
lens provided on the unit to check the holograms.
