To reward its top-performing channel partners across the country, Canon India
celebrated by taking its top 35 dealers across product categories of printers,
copiers and consumables to South Africa on a five-day/six-night trip. These
dealers were the winners of its Wings of Glory (Q4 2004) program, which was
initiated to recognize its channel partners.
The company-wide channel motivational program was conceived three years back
and entailed selling different models of Canon products that carried reward
points for each product category. For partners who collected the top 35 points
across various product categories, the incentive was a trip to South Africa,
collection of more than 600 points entailed rewards worth Rs 70,000, more than
400 led to a reward worth Rs 35,000 and more than 250 points the winners got
rewards worth Rs 15,000.

Sharing the rationale behind organizing such events, Canon India VP, Alok
Bharadwaj said, "Offsites such as these help Canon in establishing a closer
bond with its partners and in understanding their needs better. We have
experienced that the involvement of senior management at such events makes these
events even more motivating and encouraging." As part of the same program,
a second group of 15 dealers from the Photo channel, led by Alok took off for a
six-night/ seven-day trip to Australia and New Zealand on March 13, 2005.
