New Delhi : Canon India has launched 85 digital imaging products on the occasion of Diwali. These include digital cameras, digital video camcorders, printers, all-in-ones, digital copiers, software applications, cable ID printers, card printers, etc. The products launched are across its three divisions-imaging communication products (ICP), consumer systems product (CSP) and business imaging solutions (BIS).
The event witnessed unveiling of new products across divisions. These include 30 products and six solutions from BIS division, 28 products from CSP division and 22 new products from ICP.
The products launched include Canon's entry into two new categories of cable ID printer and card printer. These printers are being launched under the name of NISCA which is a fully owned subsidiary of Canon Finetech Inc, Tokyo. The market for this segment is approx Rs 100 crore and growing at 33 percent pa. Canon will be distributing these through its national distributor Pune-based Onyx.
Talking about the road ahead for 2009, Kensaku Konishi, President and CEO, Canon India said,
"In 2009, we will leverage on investment, enhance our productivity and effective-ness of our
people."
To take the business strategy forward, Canon will be focusing on the following five key areas-Creating digital on demand printing; penetrating government and SI business; thrust on laser printers; D-SLR in consumer hands; city specific marketing (this project will now be launched in Chennai, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kochi, Guwahati, etc as 'Print
City' project).
Alok Bharadwaj, Sr VP, Canon Indiaadded, "We will make a concerted effort to reach out to regional markets this year. To increase penetration in tier-2 and 3 markets, we have implemented marketing tactics like road shows and exhibitions to educate and connect with the huge consumer
group."
