CCMDA to organize IT fair in December

The Chhattisgarh Computers Media Dealers Association (CCMDA) is gearing up to
organize an IT fair in December this year. The event will witness participation
from vendors from across all IT verticals. The fair will last for three days and
will be held during the weekend.

Speaking about this event, Devendra Marwah, President, CCMDA said that it was
an annual feature and he expects more than 50 vendors to take part in it, apart
from dealers. These vendors will not only showcase their products but will also
announce special schemes for students.

The association is trying to rope in Microsoft and have already sent a
request to the software giant to attend the fair and spread further knowledge
about their product portfolio.

"The basic idea behind this event is to attract more customers and
provide them with knowledge and information about the various IT products. That
apart, we will also have seminars and demonstrations for end-consumers and
dealers," added Marwah.

The event will also display new products like Epson printers and Apple iPods
and Zenith Computers' desktops.

According to Marwah consumers today are aware of the product configurations
and brands. But they want to touch and feel the products as well. He therefore
felt that this event would be a great platform for both showcasing such products
and spreading awareness about them." Though the venue for the fair has not
been fixed, it is likely to be held at Grass Memorial Ground or Science College
in Chhattisgarh.

Besides this, the association is also gearing up to settle issues between
dealers and distributors. Elaborating on the same, Marwah informed that there
are several issues pertaining to margins, delay in payments with upcountry
dealers that has been bothering the association. According to sources there are
some vendors and distributors who have been approached for the settling matters.
If the situation does not improve, then the channel will stop all sales billing
as part of a protest, to begin with. A few days back the association also held
number of meetings with Ingram Micro India Ltd, Intel and others to resolve the
issue amicably.
