CCS computers enters retail sector

Chennai based computer manufacturers CCS Infotech has entered the retail
segment with the opening of its first retail store called "CCS Zone".
This multi-brand store will display not only CCS own brand PC's and laptops but
also products of other leading brands, advanced computer and mobile phone
related accessories and high-end gadgets like digital cameras. CCS has opened
its outlet in Velachery in Chennai. "Retail is a booming sector and an open
market, which is still untapped. This is why we chose to enter this market
space," said Hasan Abdul Kader, MD of CCS Infotech. CCS plans to open 8-10
showrooms by the end of March 2008 in Chennai and plans to open around 100
outlets by 2009. CCS also expects 20-25 percent revenue through this retail
business. "We would start off with Tamilnadu this year and will move on to
neighboring states in South India and other parts of India in the coming years.
We expect a turn over of Rs 150 crore by 2008 and Rs 250 crore by 2009 financial
year with the retail business contribution of 20-25 percent," Kader
asserted. Explaining why CCS zone would be a multi-brand store, he
said,"Exclusive showrooms are not as successful today given the changing
customer mindsets. Customers now prefer one stop shopping and this is why we
chose the multibrand concept."
