Century Plyboards zeroes down on IBM

Century Plyboards along with its group company Star Cements, has selected
IBM's P6-550 server, DS 5020 storage, and virtualization technology to
consolidate its disaster recovery (DR) center. Century is already using IBM's
P5550 server and IBM's DS-4700 storage as a backbone for their ERP
infrastructure. Century implemented SAP and post that, they were looking for a
redundancy-proof datacenter, which can be used to consolidate its disaster
recovery center along with the primary site of Star Cement group.

The implementation will help them save cost and get a RoI of 35 to 40 percent
annually. IBM secured the deal after demonstrating the value proposition on RoI,
clear strategy, risk management capabilities and technical capabilities. "The
solution from IBM will help us build a redundancy-proof datacenter for our
organization and Star Cement in turn consolidating infrastructure of both the
companies. This will strengthen our long-term association with IBM as the
preferred technology partner," said Deepak Sengupta, Senior Manager-SAP, Century
Plyboards.
