Chetan Shah resigns as Director of TAIT

Mumbai : Chetan Shah, Director of Mumbai-based Trade Association of
Information Technology (TAIT) has put in his papers citing health reasons and
the need to focus more on his own business. This will mark the end of his
eight-year long association with the IT body. Sources in TAIT said that Shah's
resignation has yet to be accepted. The executive council members of the
association will sit on Thursday to formally accept the resignation of Shah and
decide on who his successor will be. When contacted, Shah said that the decision
was taken because of his ailing health. "I had expressed my desire to quit three
months ago. But I was asked to continue till the COM-IT Expo 2008, which is the
biggest event organized by TAIT," he said. Shah also noted that in view of the
current economic situation he wanted to channelize his energies more on his own
company, Xpress Computers. However, a section of TAIT members claimed that Shah
has to quit because of differences with some of the key members of the body. "A
known key member was dominating the organization, which has forced Shah to quit,"
said a member on condition of anonymity. However, Shah denied any such remarks. "Even
in a family members have differences in opinion, but that does not mean that we
leave the family behind. Shah is quitting because of his health reasons, which
is known to everyone," said Anees Khalfay, President, TAIT. It is worth
mentioning that this is the second resignation in the association this calender
year. Sandeep Parasrampuria of The Best IT World had resigned as a Director of
TAIT in the last quarter of FY 2007-08. Parasrampuria citied personal reasons
for his resignation. TAIT represents over 300 IT companies comprising of IT
distributors, resellers, system integrators, software and networking companies
in Mumbai.
