Chirag all set to bid for central government contracts

Kolkata: Chirag Computers has added yet another feather in the hat this February after it received the much awaited rate contract certification from Directorate General for Supply and Disposal (DGSND) becoming the first east Indian computer manufacturer to receive this certification.

"The DGSND certification has been crucial as now; Chirag will be able to participate in contracts issued by the Ministry of Defence and Railways. After getting the rate contract on February this year, we have already bagged two contracts in the Gun and Shell Board in Kolkata and the North-Western Railways in Jaipur", said an elated Shibaji Panja in an exclusive to The DQ Week .

DGSND certification is issued by the Ministry of Commerce and is required to participate in bids issued by top-level central government wings. It is a quality parameter which lays down the desired configuration of the computers required stressing on the quality parameters and in some instances, allows the vendors to directly bag supply orders without participating in any tenders.

Company sources revealed that Chirag will be hiking the prices of the computers by 5-10 percent while supplying to the central government bodies due to the several quality checks it has to undergo. However, prices in the consumer market will not be affected by this. Also, the company is expecting to have a 70 percent growth till February 28, 2010 as a result of the certification.
