Cisco outlines future initiatives

Cisco has several plans up its sleeves which include future-proof technology, 4G self-defending network and Intelligent Information Network (INN). This was revealed at The Asia Press Symposium held by the company at Sydney on 25th

and 26th November, 2004 for select journalists from India, China and other Asia Pacific countries.

Security is another major thrust area for the company and the latest launch of Integrated Service Router is a major step towards a secured future network. Cisco has also a new feather on its cap; its CRS-1 has got a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the fasted router of the world. At 92 TBPS speed, it is also the only router name mentioned in Guinness Book.

The event was full of Cisco AP heavy weights, including Cisco APac President, Gordon Astles.

According to IDC, India is the fastest growing market in the world for Cisco. India contributes a significant share in Cisco’s APac revenue, which is 11% of
the worldwide revenue for the company.
