CMDA, ICCRA, CTRAI's look towards ReIndia

In order to understand more about the printer cartridge remanufacturing
industry and gain in-depth knowledge on the latest quality remanufacturing
techniques associations like CMDA-Delhi, ICCRA-Bangalore, and CTRAI-Mumbai will
be participating in the ReIndia Expo to be held in Mumbai from 6-8th March this
year.

The event will also provide them with ample scope to take a look at the
state-of-the-art equipment, and learn about products and services to enhance
their productivity and reduce costs. Several UK, US and China based companies
manufacturing various printer parts and consumables will be participating in the
above exhibition. The event will also see companies showcasing various products
including refilling powder, blades, brushes etc.

Talking about the same, Veerendra Chopra, a key member from the organizing
committee and Director, Pushkar Electronics, Delhi stated, "Till now the
resellers had to visit such events held in foreign countries. This is the first
time that an event for the re-manufacturers and resellers is being organized in
India. This event will help them in understanding the latest remanufacturing
techniques, expanding their sources for toner and ink cartridges and also
suggest ways in which they can capitalize on the growth of the cartridge
remanufacturing industry which at present is in its nascent stage in
India."

Elaborating on the remanufacturing and reseller practices he said that
printer cartridges are made of plastic and once the cartridge is empty the
re-fillers, fill powder in the same and sell it again. But it leads to several
problems, as refilling hampers the print quality and reduces the life of the
product.

Remanufacturing is emerging big in India and is also one of the best options
available. Under this process, the cartridge, made of plastic isn't destroyed,
rather using the latest technology the cartridge is opened up and all the parts
are replaced with new. "This is beneficial for the customers as they need
not compromise on quality. Even the cost of replacing the worn out cartridge is
half the price of a new cartridge. Thus a customer can continue with the same
cartridge instead of buying from an original OEM. Besides, this industry throws
a lot of opportunities for the resellers who wish to opt for
remanufacturing" added Chopra.

He further added that verticals like SOHO and even the home users are
investing heavily into color printers and with the increase in demand for the
printers, resellers selling consumables stand a chance to expand their business.

It may be noted that prior to the start of the exhibition, a workshop will be
organized for the participants of the exhibition where they will be given both
practical lectures and demonstrations pertaining to opening the printer,
cleaning and methods of refilling it in the best way.

Clarifying on the same, Chopra said that every printer is different from the
other and hence experts from the industry will explain them how to open the
cartridge and then refill the same. Close to 90-100 exhibitors are expected to
be present at the event. In addition to this, the visitors will also be given
information on franchising opportunities by Cartridge world.
