Computer City to open multi-branded showroom

Panipat: Panipat-based Computer City has announced plans to open a
multi-branded showroom at one of the hotspots of the city. The company is
considering two popular malls of the city-Mittal Mall and Angel Prime Mall,
for setting up the showroom. The new store will be opened by March 2008. Ajay
Singla, CEO, Computer City said, “We are planning to open the showroom by
March 2008, and are working on the finer aspects of the launch.”

Head-quartered at Geeta Market, Panipat, Computer City currently has a
showroom called the ACCI Mall in Panipat. The company has decided to purchase a
700sq ft land and needs to finalize on the location of the two malls. The new
showroom is expected to see an investment of approximately Rs 25 lakh. Singla
informed, “We are considering Mittal Mall, as it is the busiest mall in the
city and moreover, has a good crowd.”

The new multi-branded showroom will showcase the latest range of laptops,
notebooks from various leading brands besides the IT peripherals. The company
currently deals in brands like HP, Compaq, IBM, Lenovo, HCL, and is looking at
adding few more brands to its kitty.

“We currently deal in Lenovo notebooks, but the new showroom will have
notebooks by all leading brands like Compaq, HP Pavilion, Acer etc.”

Talking about the market conditions, Singla said that the market has been
really down for the last two-three months despite various schemes floating in
the festive seasons. “Though the reasons for the same are not clear yet, it
has been observed that people's money is stuck in the stock market so they are
holding their purchases.”

To boost the sales, Computer City has announced a scheme too wherein the
customers can win rewards worth Rs 1,000 on the purchase of Lenovo laptops. The
rewards would also include cooling pads, iPods etc.
