D-Link drops prices by 4%

Mumbai : D-Link India has decided to pass on the benefits of
restructuring in the excise duty to its channel partners and customers. The
vendor has planned a four percent cut in prices on products manufactured locally
in India, which includes, broadband products, routers, VoIP and SCS components
etc.

The slash in prices will be effective immediately on a selective basis and
the actual reduction may vary from product to product.

Jayesh Kotak, VP--Product Management, D-Link India, said, "Being a major
player in the networking industry, D-Link has taken an initiative to reciprocate
the direction given by the government of India. We believe that the excise duty
cut would definitely work as an economic stimulus and in support we have decided
to drop the prices of our locally manufactured products. We will pass on the
benefit to channel partners and we hope that our partners will further pass it
on to the end customers."

It may be recalled that earlier this year, we had reported that various
vendors including HP, Logitech and Intex, were hiking the price of their
products. The announcement by D-Link will come as a relief for the channel.

D-Link manufactures the range of networking products, cabling, modems and
VoIP products at its manufacturing facility at Goa.
