D-Link launches 10-gigabit high-speed switches

D-Link has launched a new product line with highly advanced Layer 3 Gigabit Managed switches that support standard 10 Gigabit Ethernet
uplinks.

According to the press release, D-Link's switches have the capability of delivering advanced stackable layer 3 ten Gigabit uplinks featuring
high-speed and fail-safe stack architecture supporting Star and Ring topologies. With a flexible configuration, the new DXS-3326GSR and
DXS-3350SR can also be stacked with other x-stack switches and hence offer a scalable
solution.

According to D-Link India sales director Prabodh Vyas, "Users currently running the DGS-3324SR, for example, will be able to expand their
installation with 10Gbps links with the DXS-3326GSR or DXS-3350SR, adding extra functionality and
performance." The DXS-3326GSR is a 24-port Mini GBIC SFP switch that can be stacked either in a ring of twelve units, or
in a star with six units.

The DXS-3350SR is equipped with 48 1000 Base T-ports and has a stacking capacity of 12 units in a ring or six units in a
star. The new switches each have two module slots for 10Gbps XFP ports that allow them to be
connected to the backbone. Both switches can be stacked traditionally via the inbuilt stacking ports or virtually via single IP management.
This means that a stack can be administered as a logical unit via one IP number, which makes administration easier. 

The switch capacity is 128 (DXS-3326GSR) and 176 (DXS-3350SR) Gbps. Besides single IP management, the administration
tool also includes multi-layer ACL, IP routing with support for RIP, OSPF, VRRP, IGMP v.3, DVMRP
and PIM-DM/SM, bandwidth control, SNMP and RMON monitoring.
