New Update

One of the prominent reasons behind Data Care's growth has been the
distributor's three-pronged strategy to penetrate its brands further. Data Care
has been concentrating on services by opening service centers across Maharashtra
and training and educating employees around its product portfolios. Thanks to
this successful strategy, the distributor recorded a revenue figure of Rs 275
crore in FY'08-09. Of these Rs 35 crore each came from its servicing division
and its other trading arm.

In view of its strong presence in the western region, Data Care went ahead
and opened three new showrooms within Pune in order to cater to its channel
network. In 2008, the distributor was also recognized by The DQ Week as the
'Best Sub-Distributor' at an all India level.

The distributor initiated a 'Services' division, which further helped them to
bag AMCs and lucrative contracts from several companies. The second quarter
(July, August and September) of the year, proved to be highly beneficial and
around Rs 5.8 crore came from it alone. Having achieved desired growth figures
in 2008-09, the distributor is now aiming at increasing its manpower.

The company is looking to hire employees in the areas of sales and marketing
as well as tech support.

The distributor has initiated training for unemployed youth and much of their
investments have gone into granting them comfortable credit lines.

However, having achieved the status of a distinguished distributor, Data Care
also realized that focusing merely on volumes and having a strong distribution
strategy alone will not help them achieve the desired growth. It has recently
started offering 'off-the-shelf' replacements to its end-user clients, resellers
etc.

This has further accentuated its presence in Pune and parts of Maharashtra
and the distributor is now being looked upon as a one-stop-shop that can meet
all their service related requirements. The distributor is already in the
process of recruiting engineers to attend to service-related issues and offer
cost-free services to clients.

HIGHLIGHTS

Became Dell Master Franchise for Pune

Opened three new showrooms within Pune

The above strategy will see the distributor make heavy investments but will
prove profitable in the long run.

In addition to this, Data Care also intends to open service centers at major
distribution points including Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara among others. Other
plans revolve around shifting to 'on-line' module. This will not only improve
its services but will also enable the distributor to price the products in a
transparent manner. The distributor will be emulating the models developed by
Amazon and BestBuy. This 'on-line' module will not be restricted to hardware
sale only and the distributor will look at solving service related problems
through the module as well.
