Dava Infotech, developer of business automation applications for retail outlets, is looking at geographically expanding its distribution and marketing reach across India. Until now, the company has been very successful with its retail chemist solutions called ‘DavaPlus’ in Maharashtra. “More than 2,000 retailers across the country have been using DavaPlus to computerize their business. In Mumbai, we hold about 80% of the market. Of the 500 retail chemist outlets using automated solutions in Mumbai, more than 400 use DavaPlus,” said Surendra Kale, Director GM, Dava Infotech.
Now the company wants to replicate the success in other cities outside Maharashtra by appointing a channel partner network. At a later stage, the company is also looking at appointing national distributors.

According to Surendra, there are more than 7500 retail chemist outlets in Mumbai and its suburbs. This itself is a big market potential for DavaPlus. “However, by going in to other markets outside Mumbai, we want to create a larger footprint for our products in the country,” added Surendra.
DavaPlus helps retail chemists, distributors and C&F agencies in pharmaceutical trade to automate their business operations. This is a windows-based package with standalone, LAN, barcode and hospital modules. “Our analysis shows that a chemist can recover his entire investments in hardware and software within four months of computerizing his business. It also improves his profitability by at least 25%,” said he.
Meanwhile, the company also wants channel partners to market its latest out-bound Supply Chain Management solution for retail outlets called ‘Retail ERP’. The web-enabled Windows-based Retail ERP is available for any trader who deals in packaged commodities.
