Dehradun Sees Vendor Participation As Crucial

Dealers in Dehradun got the perfect platform to sort their issues with the
distributors in the region, at the recently held IT Panchayat. The event held in
association with The DQ Week and DQ Channels saw participation of more than 50
channel partners including that of the distributors in the region. The event,
moderated by Zia Askari, Associate Editor, The DQ Week, touched upon various
issues including that of cartel formation, uniform credit policy, dead on
arrival (DoA) and pricing issues.

Speaking on the same Vikas Dewan, CEO Strategic Marketing praised the
distributors for acting as the finance arm of the dealers and maintaining
stocks. However, he did raise concerns about the distis involved in cartel
formation and giving uneven pricing to dealers in the region.

Reacting on the issue, Vidur Nautiyal of Redington stated, “Distis indulge in
cartel formation because even they are under constant pressure from the vendor
to meet their targets, hence it's the vendor who needs to be questioned. Even
the distis are competing against each other and we need to come together and
bring the issue to the notice of the vendors.”

Another burning issue that dealers brought to the notice of the distis
revolved around MRP. Talking about the same Satveer Singh of Computer Craft
reitera­ted, “On numerous occasions the MRP is lesser than the dealer prices
which creates an imba­lance in the market and puts the dealers in an awkward
situation before their customers.”

Raj Mallik of eSys said, “This problem originates as a result of the pressure
from the vendors and it they will have to take the matter seriously so that
uniform pricing prevails in the market.

Several concerns were raised around delay in the delivery of parts and
replacement issues. Distributors stated that they will look into the matter and
ensure faster and on time delivery.

The evening saw partici­pation from more than 50 channel partners and the
local represen­tation of distri­butors in Dehradun. Nitin Kumar Sharma of Sify,
Anil Gupta of Microworld and represen­tatives of Chirag gave presentation around
their products and plans during the event.
