Delhi channel all set to get tough on defaulters

After having experienced a lot of trouble at the hands of
defaulters like Sanjay Gupta of Gravis Computers, the channel community in the
Delhi region is all set to get tough on such people operating from the market.

"The case of Gravis Computers has given us a lesson.
However, there are a lot of defaulters that are still operating from this
market. We want to give them a strong message that it is high time for them to
give up on such malpractices and mend their ways in time," informed, Saket
Kapur, Secretary, PCAIT.

While Sanjay Gupta has been put under arrest and sent to
Tihar Jail, there are others within the channel community who are committing the
same mistakes. "We do not want to name this company but we are facing
problems because of the cheques getting bounced repeatedly. Till date we have
more than Rs 5 lakh of dues against this company," informed, a reseller on
condition of anonymity.

Issues like this become more important as the channel players
are working on wafer thin margins. "If these issues are not handled
properly, the whole market credibility gets a jolt. So I sincerely think that
that we should have a system in place, which will allow us to identify these
culprits on a regular basis," Saket added.

What is the way out?

Most of the people from the channel strongly feel that there is a lot which
needs to be done to keep a tab on activities of such people.

Keeping this in mind, PCAIT, the channel voice of this region
is working towards putting an alert system in place. "We have a forum
within our website, and we will try to revitalize this forum so that we may put
a prompt alert against any such activities in future. This should help us
towards identifying and dealing with people who are set to spoil the name of the
market," he added.
