Delhi to go Wi-Fi through PPP

New Delhi will soon be joining Bangalore and Pune on the Wi-Fi meshed
network, with the government of Delhi planning to install Wi-Fi zones in the
capital city. The Wi-Fi zones are to be established through private-public
partnership (PPP) model.

According to highly placed government officials, the government of NCR, Delhi
sees the Wi-Fi zones as a large step in providing ubiquitous Internet
connectivity that would propel quicker adoption of the e-governance interfaces
of the government.

"Such connectivity would facilitate faster and secure business transactions,
knowledge and information dissemination, hassle-free interaction among citizens,
business and government. The establishment of Wi-Fi zones through PPP would
leverage broadband availability in shops, market places, offices, etc," said a
source.
