18.Fortune Marketing :The Growth Champion

The company with the fastest growth amongst distributors in the Silver
Club, Fortune Marketing made it possible because of its wide breadth of product
portfolio

Clocking a growth of 44 percent in 2006-07 over the previous year's turnover,
Fortune Marketing pushed its revenues to Rs 127 crore, and thereby managed to
secure itself a position in the Silver Club this year. With a wide range of
products in its kitty, it is now focusing on the upcountry market by directly
making its presence in smaller cities.

Expanding its products base and experimenting in the upcoming business of
security, the company also introduced storage and surveillance products to its
list. Its turning point was its elevation from a mere sub-distributor of Seagate
to its national distributor. This move signaled Fortune's entry into the big
league.

The company also tied up with Plustek for the distribution of business card
scanners in India.

In order to provide a complete solution suite to local commercial and
industrial equipment system integrator, Fortune also started working with Sunix,
which is into manufacturing of IO cards.

Though based in New Delhi, the company gets a bulk of its business from the
southern market, which is almost 44 percent, while north contributes 26 percent.
East and west bring in 12 and 18 percent in revenue contribution, respectively.

Exploring market opportunities in B and C-class cities, Fortune opened
offices in Pune, Ludhiana, Jaipur and Indore in a short span of six months . It
is aiming to open four to five more offices in other smaller cities by the end
of March 2008.

19.Transtek Infoways:Sizzle To Slowdown

After doubling its turnover in 2005-06, the company managed to grow by
just 11 percent during last fiscal

When Transtek Infoways doubled its turnover from Rs 50 crore to Rs 107 crore
in 2005-06, a lot of people sat up and took notice of this company. But the
company could not maintain that growth and posted a turnover of just Rs 120
crore last fiscal, registering a growth of merely 11 percent.

This did not mean that the year was not eventful for the company. It was
appointed as the national distributor for Fujitsu and MSI last year, which
buoyed its vendor portfolio comprising Kingston, Genius, X Free and Lacie.

Beginning its journey with just two offices in New Delhi and Bangalore,
Transtek today has its offices in 13 different locations. The company further
expanded its reach to the wider base of channel partners, and opened new offices
in Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Coimbatore.

The change in after-sale service procedure by Kingston and Genius, where the
warranty is now given by the principals directly to the channel, has helped
Transtek to share an amicable relationship with them.

The company claims that partnership with MSI and Fujitsu has earned a lot of
acknowledgement for the company, and has helped it bag important orders from
prominent clients. A major highlight for Transtek last fiscal was the award
conferred on it by Maxtor as the 'Best Distributor for Enterprise Products' in
APAC. The award was announced by Maxtor during a global distribution meet at
Macau.

For its partners, Transtek launched a new channel offer called 'Genius
Festival Bonanza', giving partners selling Genius a chance to win a stay at
Thailand. Another program that the distributor intro-duced was a scheme offering
Xfree multimedia speakers as prize on conditions being met.

20.Caltron :Reinventing For Growth

Though Caltron did not maintain the scorching growth it had registered in
2005-06, it is working on new strategies to mark its position

Kolkata-based Caltron had registered over 100 percent growth in 2005-06, but
its growth in the last fiscal slowed down tremendously. Despite this, the
company kept its wits around it and focused on only two companies-HP and Lenovo.

Nevertheless the slowdown prompted the company to start thinking of
ways to reinvent itself. It started its operations in Guwahati, which helped it
to grab a substantial marketshare in the northeast. It also opened its branch
office in Siliguri. The company already had branch offices in Ranchi, New Delhi,
Jamshedpur and Patna.

To further strengthen its position as a leading regional distributor, Caltron
tied up with Fuji to distribute its range of digital cameras across eastern
India. Another alliance it entered was with LG as a sub-distributor for the
eastern India.

The company has planned to further consolidate its distribution business and
establish itself as a regional distributor, rather than just a sub-distributor.
To realize this, Caltron intends to add few more brands in its kitty. It already
boasts of a channel network of 600 dealers.

The company registered a slow start last fiscal clocking Rs 24 crore in AMJ,
steadily growing it to Rs 26 crore in JAS, before registering Rs 33 crore and 37
crore in the next two quarters.

East contributes 85 percent of its overall revenue with the northern region
pitching in for the remainder. Caltron has no plans yet enter the western and
the southern markets. The company has set a target to achieve 40 percent growth
for the current fiscal.
