DQW Awards 2006: A night to remember

Take an awards ceremony, put in some music, dance, add some bubbly and what you
have is a recipe for a scintillating evening. That is exactly what happened at
the eighth annual DQ Week Premium Reseller Awards night.

The ceremony, which was held in Delhi, feted channel partners from various
cities in North India who in the last year managed to stand out among their
peers. The awards aim to recognize the contribution of channel partners across
37 cities of North India and approximately 80 Indian cities.

Like every year the awardees this year were decided by a jury, which included
eminent people from the industry. The jury panel this year comprised of Sanjay
Yadav, National Sales Manager, Samsung, Sameer Mathur, Head - Solutions
Partner Organization, HP, Vidur Sehgal, GM, Redington and Mukesh Chou­dhary,
Deputy GM, Ingram Micro.

The glittering awards night saw prominent channel players from across North
Indian descend in Delhi to grace the occasion. Also present were vendor
representatives from leading firms across India.

The night, which also marked the completion of nine years of The DQ Week
Delhi edition, kicked off with Prasanto Kumar Roy, Chief Editor and President
- Business Magazines Group, CyberMedia elaborating on the road traveled and
the way ahead for CyberMedia group.

Talking about the importance of publications that cater to the channel
partners and reseller community Roy said, “The DQ Week and DQ Channels have
remained at the fore front of enabling the channel partners community, which is
a vital cog in the wheel on which the industry is running, to grow in their
domain.”

The ceremony started with first honoring the channel partners from cities
other than Delhi. In these categories veterans rubbed shoulders with first
timers. Comexcell Technologies made a record when it bagged the Best Channel
Partner of Kanpur for the sixth year in a row. The company, which is headed by
Rohit and Himanshu, started in 1996 and closed the book last year with a
turnover of Rs 37 crore.

Close on their heels were Tritech Enterprises from Allahabad, Tayal Software
from Udaipur and Foretek Systems from Meerut who won the award for the fifth
time in a row.

Receiving the award for the fourth time were MKG Infotech Services from Agra.
Many channel partners made a hat trick this year. Prominent among them were
Gorakhpur's Jalan Distributors, Marquis from Gwalior, AGM Sales Corporation
from Jammu and Hari Computers from Jhasi.

Many cities saw joint winners with Kochar Infotech and NV Computers tying up for
Amritsar.

Chandigarh al­so witnessed a tie with both H&H Technologies and Sapphire
Informatique bagging the jointly bagging the coveted award. The same situation
prevailed in Lucknow with Docket Care and Sigma emerging joint winners.

Making their debuts this year were Himcom Engineers from Hamirpur and Intech
Infosys from Roorke. They walked away with Best Channel Partner Award for
Himachal Pradesh and Uttranchal up-country respectively.

The maximum applause however was reserved for partners from Delhi as their
colleagues and partners turned out in huge numbers to cheer up the winners.
Dwarka-based KK software made an impressive debut when he bagged the award for
best software reseller. JMD Infotech made it two in a row when they were awarded
the best media reseller.

The retail category saw Computer Land walking away with the gold award while
the silver went to Landmark Technologies.

The silver award in reseller category was bagged by Bhagwati Computers
whereas Computer Empire notched up the gold. the gold award was bagged by
Computer Empire. Noida-based Progressive Infotech received silver award in the
best system integration category while PC Solutions maintained its enviable
position by receiving gold award in this category.

The last awards of the night were for the keenly contested category of
sub-distribution. While Micro-max Technologies took home the gold, the silver
award was handed out to Park Electronik and San Computech.

The evening also saw scintillating dance performances and a lucky dip by
Netgear. Samsung presented The DQ Week awards this year. The gold sponsors were
Emerson, Netgear and Mrotek while Visesh Infotechnics was the silver sponsor.
