East or West, Compass expo is the best

If I am asked to rate the various expos organized by the channel
associations, I would without any hesitation rate Compass in Kolkata from one to
ten. The next best expo would be at the 11th spot. And, this certainly is not an
exaggeration on my part. You have to be present at this annual expo to really
understand how well it is organized and how big it is.

Held over four days at the Netaji Indoor Stadium, it rivals any big IT show
organized anywhere in the world in terms of the sights and sounds. There are
large pavilions taken up by the MNC vendors who spend a lot of money and effort
to jazz up the whole setup. Then you also have a number of smaller stalls taken
up by local players from Kolkata.

This great success of Compass expo is primarily due to one single factor: the
entire executive committee of the association works as one team with a
single-minded target to make each show better than the last one. As a result,
every year the expo has some enhancement or the other.

It is really a sight to see the entire team including VK Bhandari, Jatan Baid,
Arun Jalan, Vinay Dugar, KL Lalani, Pradeep Biyani, Pawan Jajodia, PL Suhasaria,
Pradeep Jhawar, Mahesh Shah, Narendra Dhanuka, etc wearing the same shirt and
dancing on stage with a bevy of beautiful belle dancers to mark the successful
completion of the expo.

That's a big lesson, which the other channel associations all across the
country need to learn from Compass. You might be bitter rival in business but
when it comes to doing something for the betterment of the channel community,
the mantra has to be “saathi haath bhadana; ek akela thak jayega, mil kar bhoj
uthana”. That's the only way to move forward.

However, I am not saying that other expos are bad. No, they are certainly
not. The CMDA expo in Pune, PHONOCOM by MPTCTA in Indore, ITAO expo in
Bhubaneswar, and JCDA show in Jalandhar are some other expos that are very well
organized and attract plenty of crowds. What I meant to say was that Compass has
perfected the art of organizing expos and set very high standards. This is
something, which others should strive to emulate.

Moving on from the subject of expos, there is one more thing that I would
like to make our readers aware of. Earlier this month, we lost our star reporter
Anjali Chowdhry at a very young age of 25. Due to some wrong medication on the
part of the nursing home where she was being treated for a routine illness, she
passed away leaving a big void in the DQ Channels and DQ Week edit team. In a
short period of time, she had proved her mettle as an excellent reporter filing
stories from varied places like Indore, Jalandhar, Jaipur, Udaipur, Srinagar,
and Muzzafarnagar besides NCR and Delhi.

The entire team in the Channel Publications Group of CyberMedia will miss her
a lot. May her soul rest in peace.
