EASTERN IT GROUP: Sluggish growth

Despite a sluggish growth by this disti as well as a networking group the
Eastern IT Group managed a birth in the Silver Club. This being the very first

looking good

This year, for the first time Eastern IT, a Kolkata-based company maked its
entry into the DQ Channel Silver Club. However, for the last fiscal (2005-06)
the company didn't grow much. It only achieve a turnover of Rs 91 crore
against that of its previous year, Rs 88 crore (2004-05).

Lead by JK Baid, Eastern IT Group is made up of three business groups -
Eastern Comnet, Eastern Logica and Epitom Networks. The pioneer of the three -
Eastern Comnet started its operation as a distribution unit a decade ago. The
company started its business with an aim to provide all types of networking and
communication solutions to corporates, SOHO, SME, as well as public and private
sector companies.

Over the years, Eastern IT has emerged as a leading distribution, networking
and communication company with full range of networking products like switches,
hubs, routers, lease line modems, wireless bridges, VoIP gateways, IP camera,
digital home products, copper and fiber cabling range along with various other
products as a disti. With its strong distribution base and extensive pre and
post sales support through its qualified technical teams in the entire eastern
region, the company has been a leader in its own way.

Since its inception Eastern IT's strategic tie-ups with leading networking
companies like D-Link and Cisco has made it possible for the company to cater to
the needs of all types of networking LAN/WAN/GAN/MAN requirements for its
customers.

Though with a growth rate of only 3.5 percent the company secured a very
sluggish growth in the last fiscal. The last quarter witnessed a gracious 30
percent growth. Extensive marketing and promotional activities helped the
company to manage its loss for the previous quarters. The company also
introduced a number of new products to its portfolio.
