F5 Networks delivers new WANJet solution

F5 Networks announced that its WANJet Wide Area Network (WAN) appliance is
now available on F5's powerful TMOS architecture. Integration with TMOS enables
customers to implement high performance WAN optimization and acceleration
functionality, and builds on F5's broader Application Delivery Networking (ADN)
solution portfolio. Along with the new 5.0 software release, customers now have
a TMOS-enabled WANJet hardware platform, WANJet 300, to address branch
office-to-data center optimization needs.

Now running on the TMOS architecture platform, WANJet inherits the benefits
of F5's iControl open API with the 5.0 release enabling customers, partners,
ISVs, and system integrators to develop unique application delivery solutions.
As an additional benefit of this integration, WANJet appliances can be easily
managed by Enterprise Manager, F5's centralized network device management
appliance.

The new WANJet solution enables enterprises to employ WAN optimization as
part of their larger Application Delivery Network that bolsters application
performance, security, and availability. Highlights of the new software release
and WANJet appliance include:

Improved response times and increased throughput. Transparent Data Reduction
(TDR) is now supported both in RAM and on hard disk with this new release. Hard
disk support scales from 150 GB to 300 GB per platform.

Increased application throughput. Improvements to CIFS protocol optimizations
for Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access applications.

Reduced management costs, improved operational efficiency, and increased
network availability. Integration with Enterprise Manager v1.4 enables
centralized management control for configuring and managing WANJet devices
within F5's application delivery infrastructure.

Dramatically improved branch office-to-data center optimization and
acceleration. WANJet 300 appliance scales up to 10 Mbps WAN links and supports
both RAM and disk-based TDR-2 caching.

The WANJet version 5.0 software and WANJet 300 hardware platform are
available now. The new software version is available as a download for existing
WANJet installations, so F5 customers with current maintenance agreements and
the WANJet 500 hardware platform can take advantage of all the capabilities
included in the new release.
