Fake stationary seized

Frustrated with the increased fake stationeries business, vendors like HP and
Canon have approached the police for help. Following one such report, the police
in Mumbai recovered fake stationary sporting logos of HP and Canon and claimed
that the fake computer stationary business was worth around Rs 10 lakh.
Incidentally this is not the first time such an incident has been reported in
the city. Sources in the police department said that nearly half a dozen such
incidents were reported in the past few months.

Speaking about the recent raid, a police official said, "We have
recovered cartridges and toners with a market value of Rs 10.3 lakh. All of them
were bearing the labels of industry majors like HP and Canon." The Saki
Naka police conducted the raid on February 27 in Mohali Pipe Road area of Saki
Naka, Andheri industrial area. The entire operation took more than three hours,
police said.

The police had been informed by sources from the vendors about duplication of
their products. A team of constables Vikram Chavan, Police Sub-Inspector, Saki
Naka raided the premises of the company producing fake goods. Yashwant Vatkar,
Senior Police Inspector, Saki Naka said, "We arrested Mahesh Patel and
seized duplicate toners and cartridges from his godown. We got the information
about the duplication of cartridges and toners from company sources of HP and
Canon," he added.
