Flake takes RD model for Procurve

Chennai: Hosur-based Flake Agencies, an exclusive sub-distributor in Tamil Nadu for HP Procurve products has opted for a regional distribution (RD) model to enhance the reach of its products in tier-2 and 3 cities.

The sub-disti has taken up the task to popularize among the channels in the state by appointing six regional distributors across the main cities of Tamil Nadu. “We have appointed three RDs, including Vasavi Computer Academy (Vellore), Premier Peripherals (Madurai) and Avalon Data Products (Tirunelveli), who have been the leading players in their respective towns. We are also in the process of appointing three more RDs in Salem, Trichy and Puducherry in another three to four weeks time. We are already in talks with people in the respective cities,” informed Somenath Chatterjee, CEO, Flake Agencies.

He further said, “Initially there were few issues with the positioning of the products, however now everything has been resolved and entire range of networking products are available with us. With our strong channel network across the state, we hope to stabilize the products among the market leaders like Cisco,” he said.

He mentioned that the remaining cities in Tamil Nadu would be covered through the channel network, and the company will not be increasing the number of RDs because this might disturb the existing set-up in the other cities of the state.

Flake Agencies, the long time sub-distributor of HP for their products like servers and desktops added Procurve to its distribution portfolio lately and is conducting various events along with the vendor for increasing the mindshare of the product among the channels.

The sub-disti along with Procurve has been the main sponsor for the Confed-ITTA summit that held in Kodaikanal in December 2008. “We have been sponsoring and partici-pating in big time events in order to increase the mindshare of our product among the channel community. On the other hand, we are conducting channel events in tier-2 and 3 cities in Tamil Nadu. Recently we have conducted one such event in Vellore and will be conducting more such events in Madurai, Tirunelveli, Trichy, Salem and Puducherry during March,” Chatterjee informed.
