Bangalore-based Association of Information Technology (AIT) would be organizing its annual PC Expo in the second week of October. This four-day
event would begin on October 7 and will go on till October 10 at the Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in the city. DQ Channels India is the official
media partner for the event, with vendors like LG and Seagate having signed up as sponsors for the same. This is the second consecutive year that AIT is
holding such an event with unique expositions taking care of the event management this time as well.
Last year's Expo saw 60 participating dealers and 84 stalls. While the public turned up in large numbers (around 38,000) the
last time around, AIT expects a 45% increase in turnout this year. Also, the organizers are
increasing the number of stalls to 105.
Unlike the flagship IT event in Bangalore, IT.COM that enjoys government support and funding, PC Expo is a purely
AIT-driven initiative. Any computer dealer including non-AIT members can participate in the
expo. So what's the need for an exclusive event like PC Expo when there's
IT.COM?
R Sridhar, AIT's secretary opines that it is very important for dealers to have an interface with consumers. "IT.COM is a B2B exercise while PC Expo is
more focused towards end-users and this gives them a chance to have a first hand look at new IT
products. Even small dealers get an opportunity to showcase their products," says he.
This year's edition also promises some value-adds for the dealer community like an open house. "We want to have this open house where some of our major
sponsors will be provided a time slot of one and a half hours each, where they can talk to our
participants," informs Shridhar. This, according to him, will enable dealers to experience a `multi-brand' scenario and know
more about vendors and their products
