Despite increasing business pressures, Jagannath's hobby of photography helps
him in incisive thinking. Though he has not participated in exhibitions so far,
he has an enviable private collection, which may go on display soon. He owns
eight cameras of varied dimensions

KV Jagannath of Hyderabad-based Choice Solutions has been in love with
photography ever since his college days. Having learnt a few techniques from his
father, he loves meeting people with the same hobby and devotes quality time to
this pursuit.

“My passion for photography started from the days of black and white
pictures. Back then, I would wash and make prints of the photographs from my own
lab,” he recalled.

His ultimate fervor for photography started with the purchase of a Yashika
camera, which not many people could afford in those days. Today, he is a proud
owner of over eight cameras. “I have almost all the accessories for both SLR,
manual and digital cameras,” claimed Jagannath.

His current favorites are 12MP Sony camera and a 12.1MP camcorder, with
10-30mm accessories. He now wants to lay his hands on some long-distance image
capturing accessories. “I plan to buy a few high-end cameras. But my busy
schedule is a big hindrance,” he asserted.

He rates Olympus as his first choice when it comes to a camera and Mauritius,
when it comes to the choice of location for clicking pictures. “Mauritius has a
scenic locale. Last year, I went for a safari in Kenya, which was equally
fascinating. However, when it comes to manual cameras, my choice is Darjeeling,”
he said.

Despite having clicked more than 10,000 photographs till date, he feels that
his quest for photography has not yet begun. “My father used to maintain my
photographs earlier but since he has grown old now I

do not want to burden him with much work,” he added.

Jagannath is very enthusiastic about traveling and wants to visit places
around the world like Alaska, Canada, a few other places in Iran and Africa,
just to take photographs.

He explained that learning photography is a continuous process, and the role
of light in photography is a mystery to him, one that he has yet to learn about.

“The day I gain a fair amount of knowledge about the lighting techniques, I
will become a professional model photographer. I still have a long way to go,”
he shared laughing.

When asked how his family felt about his hobby, he replied, “They love it as
this passion keeps all my worries and business tensions at bay. I forget the
hardest things while capturing a beautiful entity, which gives me enormous
pleasure and peace of mind.”

Jagannath plans to buy a laptop in which he will only store his photographs.
Currently, he has stored all his photographs in a hard disk.

To those who want to consider photography as a hobby, Jagannath has a piece
of advice. “Photography is a very expensive hobby and one should not overdo it.
Like any other product, a camera needs constant maintenance.”
