Frontier Business Systems : Slow But Steady

Frontier Business Systems might not be a trailblazer in terms of its revenue
growth. But it has managed to beef up its consultancy portfolio by adding better
skill-sets to its kitty and setting up a proof of concept center to establish
itself as a blue-blooded solution provider.

Planning its diversification into newer markets and launching new services
and products enabled Frontier Business to make its presence felt. Apart from
that it also maximized returns from its business. Not only did the company
implement its strategies, but also expanded its domain by entering into
contracts and clinching new tie-ups.

Frontier entered into new frontiers of growth all through the last fiscal and
managed to clock revenues of Rs 202 crore, a growth of three percent over the
previous fiscal. The company has set-up a virtualization consulting division and
aligned with VMware, Citrix (for Xensource), Platespin, Marathon Technologies
and Thinprint for this.

Besides this, the company saw its newly formed Information Security
Consulting small business unit (SBU) get solid traction by bagging several
assignments for ISO 27001 consulting, security assessments and network
assessments. Embracing green IT initiatives, within six months, Frontier set-up
an enterprise virtualization consulting SBU as well and acquired major skills in
the domain. It set-up a proof of concept lab for virtualization with an
investment of Rs 5 crore. In the virtualization space, Frontier offered the
complete range of solutions such as server, desktop and print virtualization. It
worked on putting in place a highly trained and experience team to consult
customers on virtualization feasibility, design and execution. It has also
started the process of focusing on services and solutions apart from products
and achieved encouraging results in 2007-08 with services contribution rising to
21 percent of the company's turnover. It hopes to move this up to 30 percent in
the coming fiscal.
