HCL launches one terabyte PC

HCL Infosystems announced the launch of first personal computer with One
Terabyte hard drive capacity, focusing on designing and animation professionals
and consumers who store multimedia content.

Powered by Hitachi Global Storage Technologies' recently launched Deskstar
7K1000 hard drive, industry's first hard drive with One TB capacity, the new HCL
PC has been introduced in entry level and a high-end Digital Content Creation
Workstation.

The entry level PC ships with Intel Core Two Duo processor, One GB RAM,
17" Flat Panel Monitor, HCL EC2 Technology and HCL Active Management
Console. Digital Content Creation Workstation comes loaded with Intel Core Two
Duo processor and a special bundle of Quadro FX 1500 and Adobe Production Studio
Premium, HCL said in a statement.

One TB capacity allows consumers to store as much video, music, photographs
and other data as they want. It is a boon for the enterprise customers
undertaking data-intensive projects in graphic designing, animation, publishing
and video editing etc.

George Paul, VP, HCL Infosystems, said, "Our launch of India's first One
Terabyte PC, armed with Hitachi's Deskstar 7K1000 hard drive, gives storage
advantage to enterprise users working on storage-intensive applications across
industries, including publishing, designing and production houses."

"Today's consumers are demanding more hard drive storage capacity for
their videos, music and photographs; all of which consume large volumes of hard
drive space. These new PCs will take care of all their storage needs and ensure
that they no longer have to worry about running out of disk space," Paul
added. The entry level HCL model is priced at Rs 35,000 and the Digital Content
Creation Workstation at Rs 99,000.
