Hitachi Data Systems hosts annual User Conference 2009

Bengaluru: Hitachi Data Systems hosted their annual User Conference,
at The Leela in Bengaluru. Titled 'Delivering Value beyond Storage — A Services
Approach to Data Management', the conference brought together Hitachi's
partners, customers, industry experts and technology professionals from various
verticals on a common networking platform to discuss the storage challenges
faced by enterprises today and how storage solutions can be used strategically
to derive tangible business benefits.

"In these very uncertain economic times, companies require a value-added
storage solution that can improve their operational efficiency while reducing
total infrastructure costs. Increasing the utilization of total IT assets
becomes the single most important mission of IT managers," said Natarajan
Viswanathan, VP and MD, India. "The User Conference provides an opportunity and
platform for all our partners, customers and IT Heads to understand Hitachi's
Services Oriented approach to data management and how we can bring value to an
organization, going beyond the obvious benefits of the storage deployment," he
added.

The event featured a presentation by Hubert Yoshida, VP and CTO, Hitachi Data
Systems, who spoke about the current challenges in IT and technologies like
Virtualization, tiered storage, dynamic provisioning and active archive which
can help increase utilization and efficiency.

Sankalp Shrie, Senior Manager Computing Products Research, IDC gave a session
on storage market and trends. There were other informative talks by partners Sun
Microsystems on Value Beyond Storage, VMware on Server and Storage
Virtualization and Brocade on Hitachi Data Systems partnership. Some of the
customers also presented their case studies.
