HP Boot Camp in Erode boycotted? Or was it not?

Channel partners in Erode boycotted the recently held HP IPG Boot Camp
Training program at Erode, according to C Balakrishnan, President, Erode IT
Association (EITA). He stated that the reason behind this move is the
discontentment over growing service issues in the region and a general
indifference to these issues from HP.

Balakrishnan said, “HP has not opened a local service center for traders in
Erode despite several requests. The delayed response from the vendor regarding
service prompted us to boycott the event. Unclear policies on warranty, DOA,
have also added fuel to the fire.”

He added that if HP continued this attitude, the vendor might soon face a big
setback in Erode market. Apart from dissatisfaction over service, the fact that
out of the 60 odd association members in Erode, only a select received the
invite for the camp, which was another reason for the boycott, according to
Balakrishnan.

However HP has a different version to offer. Said Radhakrishnan, Area Sales
Manager-Upcountry Region, HP India, “The secretary for Erode IT dealers
association was present for the boot camp along with almost 19 traders belonging
to the Erode association. If it was a boycott, then the Secretary of the
association would not have been there along with the association members.”
