In keeping with its strategy to expand its position in the color laser printer market in India, HP has launched a series of color printers aimed at
corporate, SMBs as well as individual users.
"According to IDC estimates, the current color laser printing market is approximately Rs 50 crore, which is expected to grow to Rs 100 crore by
2007. As a market leader, HP is committed towards driving this growth and expanding the market," says HP color lasers and business inkjets country
category manager Vibhor Bansal.
The bouquet of new products includes the HP Color LaserJet 2550 printer series that starts at Rs 34,999. HP has also launched a new range-the 4650
series featuring Modular Ink Delivery System (MIDS).
For the first time, the company has also launched a mobile printer 450cbi equipped with bluetooth capabilities that allows for wireless printing
through a mobile phone or a PDA device. It is priced at Rs 14,000. Other new products include a
multifunctional printer and an all-in-one printer.
To facilitate its sales and marketing initiatives for the new printers, HP has launched a color certified reseller (CCR) program for over 150 selected
CCRs in the country. The program includes training, product demos, support and incentives for partners.
Bansal informed that the company would adopt a hybrid strategy to promote its new series of printers. "Depending on the type of target segment, we
will try a combination of retail, channels and other avenues," he said. He also added that the company was in discussions with mobile phone vendors to
offer a joint go-to-market package to promote its mobile printers.
