New Update

With digital effects and CG animations
taking over Bollywood cinema, we usually fall for the spectacular
effect it creates on the screen. However, as a common man, we often
tend to overlook the tools and technologies behind these digital
masterpieces. Having said that, the professional workstation is
amongst the most important of these tools. The software used to
create today's CG effects requires a massive amount of
computational power that workstations provide in greater quantities
than your average consumer level desktop system, or notebook
computer. Not taking a back step in this segment, href="http://www.dqweek.com/HP-discontinues-relationship-with-telecom-partners">HP
is all set to
impress its customers with its new set of workstations. Recently, HP
unveiled a range of workstations, targeted at sectors like medical
imaging, animation, banking and financial services as well as
manufacturing. Equipped with new technologies to help reduce energy
usage and carbon footprint, they also incorporate the HP carbon
footprint calculator, which allows the user to see how they can
reduce their environmental impact and computing cost. Certified by
independent software vendors to run the most demanding professional
applications, HP's mobile workstation helps ensure reliable
performance for mobile power users. Built for professionals, the HP
Z210 workstations with new Intel Xeon processor E3 1200 family, are
changing the definition of the entry-level workstation. This
processor's greatest innovation is how it integrates the CPU and
graphics engines on the same die. That means visual and 3-D graphics
capabilities that were once only available to entry workstation users
with discrete graphics cards will now be accessible to anyone with an
entry workstation powered by the Intel Xeon E3 family with Intel HD
Graphics P3000(1).

Not every company that finds itself in
need of updating its fleet of workstations is in a position to outfit
the systems with the latest components and operating system. Instead,
some companies need to update their current systems to add more power
but on the condition that the new workstation support the existing
legacy components the company owns and wants to continue using.
Similarly, some companies are in need of updated systems that are
able to sell the workstations and are affordable. "Inquiries are
expected to come from sectors where data, graphics and number
crunching play an important role. Digital content creation,
manufacturing, architecture, engineering and construction are the
booming sectors and they are demanding computing systems that
guarantees optimum performance and reliability," said Anurag
Gupta, country manager, HP. For more than two decades, HP has been
creating the industry's broadest range of workstations. What's
added more to it is, there's one to match every business, from
entry level users with light budgets to power-users who work with the
most demanding applications. Designed with advanced graphics
performance, processor architectures and operating systems, HP
workstations help businesses get ahead and stay ahead.

THE ROAD AHEAD

"India is a very important market
for us. The country is witnessing a paradigm shift in recent times,
spurred by a buoyant economy and constantly evolving market dynamics.
The booming sectors, including that of digital content creation,
manufacturing, architecture, engineering and construction are
demanding computing systems that guarantees optimum performance and
reliability. HPs workstations are perfectly poised to address this
burgeoning demand," added Vinay Chandra Awasthi, senior
director-product and marketing, PSG
Group. According to the industry research firm IDC, Hps marketshare
in the desktop workstation category has grown in past quarters,
culminating with a 54% for the year 2010. The fourth quarter of 2010
saw the workstation market take a noteworthy step forward in its
journey back from recessionary lows, setting a new high watermark for
quarterly unit volume. Worldwide, the industry shipped 903.7 thousand
workstations, representing a solid, yet moderate 6.4% sequential
gain. Continued tempered growth should bode well for the workstation
market, by reducing the potential for a second dip, a dip which the
related market for professional graphics couldn't avoid in the
previous quarter. Workstation class GPUs had bounced back from its
lows far more strongly than workstations in the first half of 2010,
but suffered from a case of indigestion in the second half as OEMs'
orders appeared to run a bit too fast for actual demand."HP
workstations are used by customers performing computer intensive
tasks in industries that require advanced computing power,
application-optimized performance and world-class reliability, which
include, designing the buses and trucks on the road, formula one race
cars on the tracks, and tennis shoes on your feet. It also allows
brokers in the financial markets to make quick and accurate
decisions, gives customers in the oil and gas industry peace-of-mind
over their mission critical IT environments, enable artists with tools
to bring their creative visions to life in Hollywood blockbusters,
empower teachers to bring technology to classrooms in new and
engaging ways. Apart from these, it also provides hospitals with
revolutionary new solutions for medical imaging, and improves patient
care and healthcare," added, Stephen Khoo, business unit
manager-workstation product, PSG Group, Asia Pacific and Japan, HP.
“Power Consumption is one of the largest environmental problems
today. This is why; we have incorporated smart, energy-efficient
ideas into our products, solutions and services. With an HP
workstation one can save both power and money in the long run. Also,
many of our products are up to 90% recyclable. So we offer recycling
incentives and trade in programs for products nearing their end of
life to encourage customers to re-use and recycle. We also run
'Planet Partners', a hardware return and cycling program in more than
40 countries, regions and territories all over the world,” added
Josh Peterson, worldwide manager, HP Workstation Product Marketing.
